Virtual Live Racing (VLR) sponsors Irish jockeys Paddy and Jack Kennedy for the 2020/2021 season
Virtual Live Racing (VLR) are thrilled to announce their sponsorship of rising star jockeys Paddy and Jack Kennedy for the 2020/2021 season.
In his first meeting since suffering a broken leg in a fall in February, Jack produced a stunning comeback on September 9th with a win on Get Rich Die Plyin, and a third place on Cherif De L’Isle. It was a day to remember for Virtual Live Racing for two reasons – a successful first outing for the brand on the 21-year-old rising star’s silks, and his win and third place were on horses trained by Gordon Elliott who is a Virtual Live Racing shareholder. After the race a delighted Jack said: “I couldn’t have asked for a better start, so long may it continue. I’ve been back riding out for three weeks, and I’m having a good old blow after that! Everything felt as good as expected.”
It was the third win since VLR announced their sponsorship of the Kennedy brothers – Paddy won on Rapid Response at Wexford on August 29th, and on Jelona at Clonmel on September 3rd. Sponsoring two of the most exciting young jockeys around is a great fit for a cutting-edge technology brand that offers products featuring ground-breaking fully rendered replicas of real tracks, stunning graphics and realistic commentary, with results based on anonymised historical data from real races. Three major US tracks are live with VLR products already and more are in the pipeline – plus there are also big plans for international tracks.
Jack commented: “I’m really excited to be sponsored by Virtual Live Racing because it’s always great to see the sport embracing new technology. With VLR offering a no cost software product to racetracks all over the world, it’s a very exciting time, especially with racing going through a difficult period financially right now.”
Virtual Live Racing’s Chairman is Vincent Caldwell, the well-known online betting pioneer, racehorse owner, and former licensed ADW operator who has a long association with racing in Ireland, UK and USA.
Paddy commented: “Vincent and his team are real racing fans, and you can see that in the quality of the product they have created. The attention to detail that has gone into recreating tracks and races is amazing.”
Vincent said: “My passion for racing goes back to when I was a kid growing up in Belfast. I was inspired by the courage shown by all the jockeys, and the admiration and respect I have for guys like Paddy and Jack remains to this day. Jack’s performance at Punchestown is typical of that courage and shows what a great rider he is. Seeing both of them winning was a dream start to what we hope will be a great relationship between the Kennedys and VLR. Jack has ridden eight winners for me as an owner, and I’m looking forward to more under our sponsorship.”
